Scaffolding in Winchester

CISRS scaffolders covering Winchester, Twyford, Alresford and the surrounding SO postcodes. Listed buildings, period properties, and modern Hampshire builds.

CISRS-carded crews £5m public liability 24-hour quote Weekly inspections included

Winchester is the closest of the big Hampshire towns to our base — usually 15–25 minutes door-to-door — and a lot of our work there is on properties that need careful handling. Conservation areas, listed buildings, flint and stone walls that don’t take kindly to standard tie-in fixings. Different mindset from a Southampton terrace job.

What we do in Winchester

The jobs we get called for most often in and around Winchester:

  • Listed-property repair access — flint-faced cottages, lime-mortar elevations, anywhere a scaffold tie can’t go through the fabric. We use through-ties, weighted bases, or designed cantilevered solutions rather than drilling listed walls
  • Re-roofing on period houses — slate, plain tile, occasionally stone tile in the surrounding villages. Two-lift jobs with chimney access, often a longer hire period because the roofer’s working with reclaimed materials
  • Render and lime-wash repair — most common on the Edwardian and inter-war housing in St Cross (SO23) and the central wards
  • High-level access for tree work or chimney sweeping — short-hire scaffolds, often just 1–2 weeks, for one specific high-level access need
  • New-build and extension work — the modern estates around Badger Farm (SO22) and Abbots Barton, where the work is more conventional — full wrap, design to TG20:21, standard hire

For anything in the conservation area or on a listed property, we use a bespoke TG30 design with a method statement keyed to the building’s fabric. Winchester City Council and Hampshire’s conservation officers do check.

Postcodes we cover from base

  • SO22 — Stanmore, Badger Farm, Olivers Battery, Weeke
  • SO23 — Winchester city centre, St Cross, Hyde, Highcliffe, Kings Worthy
  • SO24 — Alresford, Tichborne, Cheriton

Anywhere inside SO21–SO24, we’ll quote and be on site within the week.

What it costs to scaffold a house in Winchester

Winchester pricing splits based on whether the building is “ordinary” or “needs careful handling”:

  • Standard estate house, 2 lifts, 6-week hire: £450–£700 (typical Badger Farm or Abbots Barton job)
  • Period property, 2 lifts + chimney: £900–£1,400
  • Listed building with TG30 bespoke design: £1,200–£2,500 (the design work and the through-tie hardware add to the standard rate)

We always survey before quoting. On a listed property we’ll often want to walk the elevation with the building owner and sometimes the conservation officer before committing to a tie-in approach.

CISRS-carded crews on every job, £5m public liability, weekly statutory inspections included in the hire rate. Quote back within 24 hours.

Why choose Stoneley for Winchester work

  1. We’ve put scaffolds against listed and conservation-area buildings before. Standard through-tie + weighted-base + designed cantilever options are the norm here, not the exception. We don’t drill listed fabric
  2. Quick on site. Winchester is the closest major town to our base. If you need a survey, we can usually be there next day
  3. Conservation paperwork done right. Where the council needs a method statement or the conservation officer wants sign-off on the tie-in approach, we produce it as part of the quote — not as an afterthought after you’ve signed
