Terms of Service

1. About us
This website is operated by Stoneley Scaffolding Limited (company number 14192317, registered office: 23a The Precinct, London Road, Waterlooville, Hampshire, PO7 7DT; trading yard: 59 Sea Front, Hayling Island, PO11 0AN). These terms cover your use of this website (stoneleyscaffolding.uk) and our enquiry process.
The full terms of each scaffolding contract are agreed in writing between Stoneley Scaffolding and the customer before work begins. These website terms do not replace that contract.
2. Our services
- Design & installation — scaffold design, erection, handover
- Rental & hire — weekly / monthly scaffold hire with inspections included
- Maintenance & alterations — modifications to in-situ scaffolds
- Statutory inspections — SG4:22-compliant weekly inspections and third-party safety audits
3. Quotes and site visits
- Quotes are provided free of charge and without obligation.
- Quotes are typically issued within 24 hours of enquiry, and are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise.
- Site visits are free for domestic and commercial jobs within our standard service area. For jobs outside this area, a travel fee may apply — we'll tell you before the visit.
4. The site-survey wizard
Our online quote wizard (/quote) uses aerial imagery, Google Street View, and an AI-assisted hazard assessment to scope a scaffold without visiting in person. You should treat wizard output as follows:
- The perimeter you trace on the satellite map is used to estimate linear metres. It's accurate to roughly ±10% depending on image vintage.
- The hazard assessment is machine-generated from a Street View image and is informational only — not a formal structural or risk assessment.
- Any quote produced from wizard input is indicative until we confirm it in writing. Where a site visit changes material facts (access we couldn't see, ground we couldn't assess), we reserve the right to revise the price before the contract is signed.
- Once a written quote is accepted, the price is fixed and will not change unless the job scope itself changes.
5. The AI support chat
The floating chat widget on this site is powered by a large language model. You should be aware that:
- Responses are generated text, not professional advice. Always confirm specifics (pricing, dates, compliance, legal) with us directly before relying on them.
- The model can occasionally be wrong, out of date, or miss nuance. Flag anything that looks off and we'll clarify.
- Conversations are logged so we can audit quality and detect abuse. See our Privacy Policy for retention details.
- Do not share sensitive personal data (health, financial details, government identifiers) in the chat.
- If the assistant offers to submit a lead on your behalf, you'll see a confirmation card first — nothing is submitted without your explicit confirmation.
6. Contracts and payment
- A scaffolding contract is formed when you accept our written quote in writing (email is fine).
- For commercial projects, payment terms are typically 30 days from invoice unless agreed otherwise.
- For domestic projects, a deposit may be required to book a start date.
- Payment methods: bank transfer. Cheques accepted where agreed.
- Late payment attracts interest at 4% over the Bank of England base rate under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
7. Liability
We carry public liability insurance to £5,000,000, and a certificate is available on request. Liability for damage caused by our direct negligence is limited to the sum insured; we accept no liability for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.
8. Your responsibilities
- Ensure we have safe access to the site on agreed dates.
- Notify us of any hazards (overhead cables, underground services, unstable ground, listed fabric).
- Obtain any neighbour permissions required where the scaffold crosses or oversails adjoining land (we'll flag when this is needed).
- Do not alter, overload, or add to our scaffolding without our knowledge — doing so invalidates our insurance and is a Health & Safety offence.
- Only CISRS-carded operatives should work on scaffolding under construction.
9. Website use
You may use this website for lawful enquiry purposes only. In particular, you agree not to:
- Submit false, misleading, or third-party contact details without their authority
- Abuse the AI chat to generate harmful, illegal, or off-topic content
- Attempt to circumvent security, scrape, or reverse-engineer the site
- Use the site in a way that interferes with other users
We may restrict access for any breach of these terms. Abuse of the AI chat is rate-limited automatically.
10. Content accuracy
Information on this site — including the blog — is provided as general guidance and may become out of date. Prices, compliance details, and council fees quoted in articles are illustrative; confirm specifics with us before relying on them for your own job. The Projects gallery shows recent work with the customer's consent where identifiable.
11. Intellectual property
All content on this site — text, images, logos, the site-survey wizard, and the design — is the property of Stoneley Scaffolding Limited unless otherwise credited. You may link to our pages; you may not copy substantial content without written permission.
12. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the current version.
13. Governing law
These terms and any scaffolding contract with us are governed by the laws of England and Wales, with exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
